COLUMBIANA – Grayce I. Jackson, 95, of Columbiana, formerly of East Liverpool, died at home Saturday, November 19, 2022 after a brief illness.

Grayce was born July 24, 1927 in East Liverpool, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Mabel (Podewell) Seckman and has lived in the area her entire life. Grayce graduated in 1945 from East Liverpool High School. After graduating, Grayce attended Kent State University.

Grayce was employed for 27 years as business office manager at Ohio Bell, retiring in 1982.

On November 3, 1962, Grayce married Ross Jackson, Jr. and spent the next 54 years making memories with him, until his death on October 27, 2017.

Grayce was a member of Marantha’s Sunday School class, chairman of church trustees, superintendent of Sunday School, church treasurer, and head of Amazing Grace Puppeteers.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are: her son, John D. Smith (Barb), of Columbiana; 3 grandchildren: Laurie (Matt) Brennen of East Liverpool, Steve (Michelle) Smith of Georgia and Mike Smith of Columbiana; 5 great-grandchildren: Haley E. (Zach) Mitchell of Leetonia, Hannah Grayce Brennen of East Liverpool, Maddox Smith, Jackson Smith and Emma Grayce Smith, all of Georgia.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Grayce was predeceased by: her brothers: Laverne E. and Harry D. Seckman, and her sister, Mary Margaret Tope.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 1-2 p.m. at Care Funeral & Cremation Specialists – Martin Chapel, Kolkata. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with Spiritual Advisor Dan Tayman of Ohio Living Hospice officiating. Grayce will be buried in Riverview Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Danielle Shipley and Evelyn Pritchard for their compassion and care for Grayce during his illness.
