James Stento Obituary – Press & Sun-Bulletin


Beloved Husband, Father, Dad, Brother, Uncle and Friend James D. Stento went to join the Lord on June 17, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Stento, his wife Joan Hill Stento, his sister Rosemary Stento and his brother Anthony Stento. On September 16, 1961, he married the love of his life, Joan. He is survived by his five beautiful children, Michael Ondrusek (Buffalo, NY), Joseph (Joy Carr) Stento (Binghamton, NY), Kara (Wesley) Shear (Johnson City, NY), Alison Stento (Binghamton, NY) and Christopher (Pamela) Stento (Endicott, NY). He was also blessed with nine grandchildren, Jake Ondrusek, Grant Stento, Angela (Joseph) Nocciolino, Erica Yanowiak, Jessica Shear, Kathryn Hollon, Michael (Krista) Stento, Victoria Stento, Jacob Stento and a great- granddaughter, Jade Stento. Also survived by his brother, Rocco Stento (Binghamton, NY). Jim attended Binghamton Central High School and served in the United States Army. He worked in construction for many years before joining the Binghamton Fire Department where he finally retired after a twenty year career. After retiring, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. An avid fan of the Giants, Yankees, Knicks and ‘Cuse, he rarely missed a game from his favorite recliner. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of his community, including his favorite restaurants, his trips to Wegmans and The Sons of Italy. A funeral mass will be offered on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church / Blessed Sacrament 465 Clubhouse Road Vestal. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Danielle House 160 Riverside, Binghamton NY 13905.
